January 2011

I don't remember too much about January 2011 except that there was snow around the 1st and I drove to Lincoln to help Lori, Sarah, and Becky clean up the rental house after the renters moved out. We all worked hard because it was such a mess.
The sixth of January would have been my mother's 88th birthday. She passed away in March 2005 and left me to be the matriarch of this family. She left a large footprint to follow and I do the best I can. What is important to me is that we all do the best we can to take time out for each other, enjoy one another, and appreciate the good things, and depreciate the faults or try not to notice them too much.

Grandma Nichols' birthday comes a couple days after my mom's would have come. I honestly don't remember how we celebrated it but I'm sure we did. She was born in 1928 and this year 2012 turned 84. This year we all gathered at Bickford Cottage where she lives to celebrate as she can't really get around well enough to go out.

Of course the other birthday in January is Sarahs. I think she celebrated with her friends, but I don't remember. She turned 27 this year, is a young career woman and living life large in the big city of Denver. Her significant birthdays for me were her very first birthday; it was so fun watching her push her little shopping cart, having just begun to walk. The other one was her 25th birthday that I got to share with her in Vegas. So fun watching her and her friends all dressed up in their "clubbing" outfits.

Last year we had lots of snow and a real winter. And so January passed on to February.
